Terms of Booking & Booking Deposit

By placing a booking with Shore Caravan Site, you and your booking party agree to the following terms and conditions as set-out. During your stay you agree to abide by the subsequent conditions as set-out. If you have any further questions, please contact us before making a booking.

To secure any booking you have paid a flat rate deposit of £17 plus a non-refundable £1 booking fee. You will have received a confirmation after booking, if you do not, please get in touch straight away. Deposits are only refundable under the conditions set out here within. Please ensure you have booked with the correct details (dates especially). Any bookings less than £17 will be refunded to their nightly price on arrival (if staying 1 night).

For those staying one night, an email will be sent within the week prior to arrival with the option to pay your remaining balance.  If you do not wish to pay in advance then you are welcome to pay on arrival in reception, where both cash and card are accepted.  Those staying more than one night are to pay the balance on arrival.

When you arrive onsite, please park inside the gate and report to reception, we will go over your booking details and take your vehicle registration (if applicable).  At this point, please tell us about any changes to your booking, the number of people, or the units/extras you have with you. 

All guests agree to respect the privacy and peace of all other staying guests, neighbours, and the owners. We have a midnight curfew for all noise on site. We reserve the right to cancel a booking with immediate effect if guests are not honouring this agreement or are causing a disturbance / nuisance to other guests, neighbours, staff, or the owner.

All guests agree to respect the property of the site and of all other staying guests, neighbours, and the owners. Bonfires are not permitted on site, however BBQ’s and firepits are allowed so long as they are raised off the ground, no damage is caused to the campground, and they are not placed on the picnic benches. We reserve the right to cancel a booking with immediate effect if guests are not honouring this agreement or are causing damage to any of the property.


We are a working croft site and therefore we do not accept dogs on the caravan site.  When booking you are required to confirm that you will not have a dog with you therefore if you arrive with a dog your booking will be cancelled, and your deposit will not be refunded. Anyone caught hiding a dog within their vehicle/unit will be told to leave with immediate effect and without any refund.

Check-in & Check-out

Guests must check-in and check-out by the times stated below.

  • Check-in between: 12pm and 8pm on day of arrival
  • Check-out: no later than 12pm on day of departure

We will try to accommodate all late arrival requests for those who cannot make it to the site by 8pm, the latest we can extend to is 10pm.  You can request a late arrival by no later than 3pm on the day however the earlier you request one the easier it will be for us to accommodate. There may be some instances that we are unable to provide this option due to other circumstances.

Cancellation, Deposit & Non-Arrival Conditions

Guests who need to cancel a booking should contact us as soon as possible. Deposits already paid are only returned in accordance with the following conditions;

  • Cancellations made before 12pm one day before arrival – a full refund of deposit will be given within one week of the cancellation, the £1 booking fee will not be refunded.
  • Cancellations made after 12pm one day before – no refund of deposit will be given.  We do not offer refunds due to bad weather unless nearby roads have been blocked, advisories have been issued, or we must close all or part of our site due to severe conditions.
  • All deposits are transferable but, only for the 2024 season and only with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.

Non-arrival guests, who fail to attend by 8pm on their arrival day and do not contact us to arrange a late arrival, will forfeit their deposit paid and their pitch may be re-rented.

Guests who have booked multiple nights must email or call to let us know if they cannot make their scheduled arrival day otherwise, they will forfeit their deposit and their pitch for the entire booking.

In the event we need to cancel your booking with us, please be aware we will refund any deposit and booking fee that has been paid.

Amending your booking

The booking system allows you to log into the booking page and view your booking.   Please ensure you have all your details correct, especially your dates.  On the “my account” page you can amend your personal details, update your contact details, download your invoice, and cancel your booking.  Cancellations must be made prior to 12pm one day before arrival for the deposit to be refunded.  You can also cancel your booking via a link on your confirmation email.

If you wish to change the dates you have booked, be it moving it to entirely new dates or adding/subtracting the number of days you wish to stay, or to change your pitch requirements, please contact us directly (details below).  Moving and changing dates is subject to availability, and the cancellation terms set out above apply.

This system created in 2023 should allow you to book more easily each season, so please keep your log in details.  We also advise you add our email address to your save senders list to ensure all emails from us are received (email is below).

Additional Site Information

Driving to site

The site is located at the end of a single-track road, it is a narrow road with some tight corners however you will manage to take any vehicle down it – our statics arrive on the back of a lorry for example. Most of the Assynt area is accessed by single-track roads. There are many passing places and it can be a busy road, especially on a sunny day.  

If programming a GPS/Sat Nav for the Caravan Site, please use our postcode IV27 4JB and select the address 106 Achmelvich otherwise the navigation will stop once you turn onto the last 1.5miles of single track. We are at the very end of the road, right next to Achmelvich Beach.  There is another campsite – Dunes Campsite – just up the road from us, please keep following the road past them, you will then pass the entrance to Hillhead Caravans on the left, stay left at the fork in the road (not going over the cattle grid which leads to the beach car park), and you will then arrive on site within moments. The reception is located at the top of the driveway on your right.

Site Pitches & Services Provided On-Site

We do not have hard standing pitches and our pitches are not marked, therefore when you arrive on site you will be advised which area to park in but, you are free to pick your own pitch.

There are twenty electric points available, each providing 6 amps, please make sure this is sufficient for your unit before booking an electric point. You cannot use our electric points to charge any kind of electric vehicle.  There are proper charging points in Lochinver and by mid-2024 The Highland Council should have upgraded the beach car park in Achmelvich and there will be some located there as well.

 We have a laundrette with two washing machines and one tumble dryer – tokens for both can be purchased at reception. There is an on-site Shop, hours vary throughout the season, and an on-site Chip Shop which is open every day 5pm – 8pm from April until the end of September, closing date TBC.

In the toilet block there is four hot showers, eight toilets, and six had washing sinks for both ladies and gents. There is also an accessible wet room that has a toilet and shower. There are two washing-up areas for dishes located within the toilet block. We also have a cold shower wet room for everyone coming off the beach to rinse off before entering the main shower block – this is to try and stop the damage and blockages that sand creates in the main shower drains.

We have a chemical disposable point located outside the toilet block, and we are still working on installing a drive over grey water disposal, unfortunately completion of this has now been delayed until 2025. There are two taps with hoses available for filling up with water and every tap throughout the site produces drinking water. All facilities are included in the site fee, we do not allow anyone not staying onsite use of our facilities or to do dump and fill.

WIFI and mobile phone signal

We have Starlink Satellite WIFI available for free, you can get the password when you are on-site. We have several nodes around site to help cover as much of the campground as possible. Mobile phone coverage is patchy throughout the Highlands, there are several spots on and around the site you can get it however if you require constant signal for your mobile phone this is something we cannot guarantee.

Your Personal Details & Privacy

The personal details you provide as part of any booking or enquiry through this website / or third-party website, including the privacy of those details are solely kept for the purpose of your booking will not be passed onto any other person or company. All details will be expunged at the end of each season.
